Coggo or VetRec?
Both are AI scribes for veterinarians. The differences matter once you start using one daily. Here is an honest, side-by-side comparison.
VetRec was one of the first AI scribes targeting veterinarians and has a solid track record with English-speaking small animal clinics. Coggo is the newer entrant, built specifically for multi-species, multi-language practices and mid-sized clinic groups.

Feature-by-feature.
The differences in detail.
Languages: built in, not bolted on
Coggo is the only veterinary AI scribe with ten human-translated languages, translated by professionals familiar with veterinary terminology. VetRec is English-only. If you practice in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Dutch, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, or Hindi, Coggo is the only option that takes your locale seriously.
Species depth: 14 species, not just dogs and cats
Coggo ships with 25 equine templates, 15 bovine, 13 avian, plus rabbit, ferret, guinea pig, reptile, hedgehog, sugar glider, ovine, caprine, and porcine, alongside the 20 canine and 17 feline templates. VetRec is primarily built for small animal practice. If your clinic sees horses, livestock, or exotics, the difference is significant.
Vitals: capture them by voice
Coggo extracts vitals from what you say during the exam. "Weight is 28 kilos, temp 38.5" becomes structured data. Nine vital types tracked, units auto-converted, always shown for approval. VetRec does not currently extract vitals from voice.
Multi-clinic without enterprise sales calls
Coggo includes multi-clinic, role-based permissions, and audit logging in both Pro annual and Pro monthly plans. VetRec gates multi-clinic behind enterprise sales. For mid-sized clinic groups, this is a meaningful pricing difference.
About switching to Coggo.
How do I switch from VetRec to Coggo?
Sign up and run Coggo alongside VetRec on the Free plan (10 notes a month) so you can compare on real consults before committing. There is no automated record migration between the two, so finish any in-flight VetRec notes there and start new visits in Coggo. When you are ready, Coggo pushes finished notes into your PIMS through its API. Email [email protected] and we will help you plan the cutover.
Does Coggo have the same template quality as VetRec?
Coggo ships 150 specialty templates auto-installed in every account, covering 17 medical specialties across 14 species. Each template was built by working clinicians. You can also customize any template or build your own.
Can I try both at the same time?
Yes, and it is the best way to decide. Record the same consult in both tools, generate a SOAP in each, and compare the structure and accuracy side by side. Coggo's Free plan gives you 10 notes a month with no credit card, so a parallel trial costs nothing. Keep VetRec active until you are confident, then move new visits across.
